No. 5 UConn, No. 1 South Carolina to Battle Sunday on FOX

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5 UConn women's basketball team (21-2) faces off against No. 1 South Carolina (22-0) in a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Championship game Sunday at noon. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
Sunday's game in the XL Center is sold out. Fans coming to the game are encouraged to wear WHITE for a White Out!
The Huskies are 8-9 all-time vs. the No. 1 team in the nation. UConn is also 7-7 all-time vs. the reigning NCAA Champion.
UConn played its fifth game in 12 days last Wednesday, beating Providence 64-54. Graduate student Dorka Juhász led the Huskies with 19 points and 17 rebounds in the game for her eighth double-double of the season. UConn outscored Providence 37-26 in the first half, but lost steam in the second. Junior Nika Mühl notched 14 points and nine rebounds in the win.
The Huskies once again have one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation with the team's final non-con game coming Sunday. UConn has played seven top-25 opponents so far this season, going 5-2 against them.
South Carolina is one of two remaining undefeated teams at 22-0 this season. The Gamecocks are coming off an 87-69 win over Kentucky on Thursday. This season, Zia Cooke leads South Carolina with 15.1 points per game while reigning National Player of the Year Aliyah Boston is averaging 12.9 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. The Gamecocks lead the nation in blocks per game (9.9), field goal percentage defense (29.0), scoring defense (47.0) and scoring margin (35.2). Head coach Dawn Staley is in her 15th season at South Carolina.
UConn is 9-3 all-time vs. the Gamecocks, but South Carolina has won the last two meetings. UConn's last win in the series came the last time the teams played in Connecticut, on Feb. 8, 2021. The teams last faced off in the 2022 NCAA Championship game on April 3, 2022, in Minneapolis.
