Edwards Named AP Third Team All-American

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's basketball junior Aaliyah Edwards was named a 2023 AP Third Team All-American, as announced by the Associated Press Wednesday.
Junior Nika Mühl and graduate student Lou Lopez Sénéchal earned Honorable Mention selections.
Edwards has stepped up as an upperclassman, averaging career highs with 16.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She is shooting 57.3 percent from the field this year. Edwards has been crucial to UConn's successes this season as one of only two Huskies to play in every game this season.
Against top-25 opponents this season, she is averaging 18.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 56.4 percent from the field.
Edwards was named the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading the Huskies to the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament Championship. She had three straight double-doubles in UConn's three games and averaged 19.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game.
Edwards was named the 2022-23 BIG EAST Most Improved Player and unanimously selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She has been named a Naismith Trophy semifinalist, a Wooden Award Ballot Member and a Katrina McClain Award Finalist.
Mühl set the UConn single-season record with 259 assists so far this season. She ranks second nationally in assists and third in assists per game with 7.8. Mühl set the UConn single-game record earlier this season with 15 assists vs. NC State on Nov. 20. She repeated as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and was an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection. Mühl is also averaging career highs with 7.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
In her only season in Storrs, Lopez Sénéchal has made a tremendous impact for UConn. She is one of two players to play in each game this season and is averaging 15.7 points per game. UConn's most consistent scorer, Lopez Sénéchal has scored in double digits in 31 games this season. She ranks 11th nationally with a 43.0 three-point percentage.
