No. 6 UConn to Face Baylor in NCAA Second Round

STORRS, Conn. – The sixth-ranked and second-seeded UConn women's basketball team (30-5) takes on No. 7-seed Baylor (20-12) in the NCAA Tournament Second Round on Monday at 9 p.m. The game will air on ESPN and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
UConn legend Maya Moore and her husband Jonathan Irons will be back on campus on Monday to host a book signing of their book Love & Justice in the UConn Student Union from 4:30-5:45 p.m.
The Huskies have advanced to the NCAA Second Round for the 32nd time in program history. UConn has appeared in 29 straight Second Round games and won 28 straight.
UConn is 131-22 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, which is the winningest record in the sport.
Junior Aaliyah Edwards set a career high with 28 points to lead UConn past Vermont, 95-52, in the NCAA Tournament First Round Saturday. All of UConn's 10 available players scored at least three points vs. the Catamounts. Graduate student Dorka Juhász had her 14th double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Nika Mühl had 10 assists for her 11th double-digit assist game of the year.
UConn scored 54 points in the paint and had 23 points off turnovers. The Huskies shot 61.9 percent from the field vs. Vermont, the team's second highest field goal percentage of the season.
UConn is 5-4 all-time vs. Baylor. The teams last met in the 2021 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in a thrilling 69-67 win for the Huskies. This is the first meeting between head coaches Geno Auriemma and Nicki Collen. Former UConn graduate assistant Chloe Pavlech is an assistant coach at Baylor.
Baylor overcame an 18-point deficit to beat Alabama, 78-74, in the NCAA First Round. Ja'Mee Asberry led the Bears with 26 points in the game. Baylor made 14 three-pointers vs. the Crimson Tide. This season, Sarah Andrews leads the Bears with 15.0 points per game. Head coach Nicki Collen is in her second season at Baylor.
