Emily Lavarnway Awarded Big East Women's Field Athlete of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - The Big East Conference announced Emily Lavarnway to the Big East Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Lavarnway put on a dominant show at the Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla. She posted a combined score in the heptathlon of 5,395 points, which is first in the conference and 13th in the NCAA Division I list. This improves her second all-time mark at UConn.
Also, another notable performance from the weekend in Miami was Jenna Zydanowicz. Zydanowicz ran a personal best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:21.95. That time is the fifth-fastest at UConn and ranks her 66th in the nation.
