#6 UConn Falls to #3 Creighton in Big East Quarterfinals

CAYCE, S.C. – The University of Connecticut women's tennis team fell to No. 3 Creighton in the Big East Quarterfinals by a score of 4-2 on Friday.
The Huskies finish the 2022-23 season with an 11-10 overall record and a 3-4 regular season conference record.
The Creighton Bluejays got off to a strong start in doubles earning the doubles point at second and third doubles. The Huskies came back ready to battle in singles play.
Caroline Cook at sixth singles would get her second win in a row in the tournament with a 6-2, 6-4 win. The Bluejays tied it up with a win at fifth singles as Isabel Petri Bere fell to Bianca Radamacher winning it at 7-5, 6-3. Creighton would then go up 3-1 with a win at first singles as Malvika Shukla bested Maria Constantinou 7-5, 7-6.
Cameron Didion would give the Huskies an added singles point at fourth singles as Didion earned her way to a second-consecutive win in the tournament in three sets going 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Although fighting hard to stay close in the match, Creighton pulled ahead to clinch the match at second singles as Aleksandra Karamyshev fell short in three sets dropping a 6-7, 6-4, 1-6 score.
"I am so proud of my teams' effort today against Creighton," Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall said. "We battled all the way to the end, and the last two matches on the court were both in the third set when it ended. The doubles point was tightly contested, and that helped Creighton's momentum leading into singles. In singles we had great effort on all six courts. It really could have gone either way today, and our team fought tough all the way to the end. I want to thank our seniors, Kyra, Denise, Caroline, and Selen for their efforts on and off the courts these past four years."
