No. 9 HookC Nine Game Win Streak Comes To An End

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 9 UConn baseball team (38-12, 13-4) dropped the series finale against the Butler Bulldogs (12-30, 5-13 BIG EAST), 11-8, on Sunday afternoon at Elliot Ballpark.
The Huskies rallied from three deficits on the afternoon but were unable to complete the comeback on Senior Day.
After trailing by as many as three, Jake Studley gave UConn its first lead with a two-run single in into left field that made it 8-7 Huskies.Â
UConn was unable to keep the lead as the Bulldogs tied it in the eighth inning on a ground ball to third that couldn't be handled.Â
In the ninth inning, the Huskies threw away a bunt towards the mound that would have got the lead runner at second base.Â
After a sacrifice fly gave Butler the lead, the Bulldogs tacked on two more runs with two outs.Â
Ben Huber went 2-5 on the afternoon with three runs batted in while Dominic Freeberger and Studley each notched multi-hit performances.Â
Will Nowak had the lone unblemished performance on the hill with 1.1 shutout frames on the hill.
The Huskies finished home portion of their schedule with a 16-4 mark and won all five series they played in Storrs.Â
Next up, the Huskies head on the road for their final midweek game of the season at Rhode Island on Tuesday, May 16 at 3 p.m.
