Four Huskies Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Northeast Honors

OMAHA - The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Region Teams have been announced in all eight regions and the Huskies had four student-athletes grab All-Northeast honors.Â
Zach Fogell earned First Team honors after going 8-0 with a 1.89 ERA in his first season in Storrs. The left-hander tied the UConn single-season appearances record with 36 appearances. In 47.2 innings, he struck out 60 and held opponents to a .210 batting average against.Â
The Cumberland, R.I. native landed on the All-BIG EAST First Team and Second Team All-New England.Â
Luke Broadhurst, Dominic Freeberger and Justin Willis received second team accolades.Â
Broadhurst played in 60 games and made 57 starts in his return to UConn. The designated hitter earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors after hitting .312 with 13 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs and drove in 51.Â
Freeberger finished his lone season in Storrs as the BIG EAST Player of the Year and started all 61 games at third base for the Huskies. The Baltimore, Md. native tied for the BIG EAST lead with 85 hits and was second in the conference with 61 runs batted in.Â
UConn closer, Willis, closed out his career with a program record 28 saves including 12 in his final season in Storrs. The right-hander appeared in 24 games and held a 3.04 ERA while going 3-3. In 23.2 innings, he walked just 11 and struck out 29 while holding opponents to a team-low .190 batting average against.Â
