Huskies Set To Host Dog Pound Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - Â The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set to host the annual Dog Pound Challenge at the UConn Volleyball Center. The field for this year's tournament includes Michigan State, Binghamton, and Brown University.
UConn will kick off the tournament as they welcome Michigan State to Storrs. The Huskies are coming off a 2-1 weekend which featured wins over Sacred Heart University and the University of Rhode Island. Redshirt freshman Audrey Rome and sophomore Emma Werkmeister were named to the Yale invitational all-tournament team. The Huskies are led by sophomore Emma Werkmeister who has 90 kills on the season.
Scouting Michigan State
Michigan State enters the weekend with a 5-3 overall record. The Spartans are averaging 13 kills per set and have an attack percentage of .258. Michigan State is coming off a 1-1 weekend which featured a 3-0 loss to Duke and a four set victory over North Carolina. Taylah Holdem posted 21 kills for the Spartans in the victory over North Carolina.
Scouting Brown
Brown enters the weekend posting an undefeated 7-0 record. Brown is led by Beau Vanderlaan and Mariia Sidorova who currently sit at 61 and 57 kills respectively. Brown is currently coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Mason invite where they only lost one set (George Mason) all weekend. Additionally Brown has faced off against the University of Rhode Island twice this season, going 2-0 and winning six of the seven sets.
Scouting Binghamton
 Binghamton enters the weekend 6-4 overall and is coming off a 2-1 weekend in which they took down Farleigh Dickinson in five sets and Lehigh in three sets, before falling to Delaware State in four sets. Binghamton is led by Tsvetelina Illieva who has 150 kills this season and Ella Schabort who has 90 kills.
All games for the Dog Pound Invitational can be streamed live on UConn+. In the event that one of the tournament games runs long, there will be a 30 minute break between games to allow teams to warm up.
