STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team opens the fall slate tomorrow at the Quinnipiac Invite hosted at the UConn Storrs Tennis Courts.
The Huskies will compete for three days this weekend in the opening season tournament on Sep. 8-10 playing Fairfield, Army, and Quinnipiac. First serve is scheduled for noon on Friday, 10 a.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The women's tennis team gear up for the season with 10 players as six returners and four newcomers form the Huskies for the 2023-24 season. Five of those six returning players started in the singles lineup.
Last season, UConn reached the BIG EAST quarterfinals, with an 11-10 overall record and a 3-4 conference record.
Looking into the fall season, the women's tennis team will prepare for the head-to-head matches in the spring (schedule to be announced later) with four invitational and blind dual formatted tournaments. The Huskies host the UConn Invite on Sep. 15-17. Also up ahead are the ITA Regionals on Oct. 5-8 with a select group of players.
"I am really looking forward to getting the season started this weekend on our courts," Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall said. "Our team has four new faces on the squad this year, and they are all very excited to get their college tennis careers started. The entire team has been working hard the last two weeks and everyone is looking forward to playing some outside competition. We return five starting players from the singles roster from last year, so our depth is going to be something that's really going to be a strong suit for us this year. I can't wait to get started, so let's Go Huskies!
