Track & Field Set to Compete at Terrier DMR Challenge and Alex Wilson Invitational

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's track and field teams prepare for another multi-meet weekend with the BU Terrier DMR Challenge on Friday, Feb. 16 at the BU Track and Tennis Center and the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame in Indiana at the largest indoor track center, Loftus Sports Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.Â
The Huskies continue to perform well in the indoor season. Last time out, both programs put up 35 top-five finishes along with six personal bests and five first-place results. Â
On the men's side, sophomore Damon Simpson was recognized as a notable performance in the weekly conference awards running a personal best time of 6.79 seconds in the 60M dash, resulting in a first-place finish. That mark placed him tied with the fastest time in the conference and eighth in the northeast region. Also, Simpson is now ranked ninth in the all-time indoor records list at UConn.Â
On the women's side, sophomore Mia Dansby in the 60 finished with a personal best of 7.47 seconds which is fifth all-time in program history, first in the BIG EAST, and third in the northeast region. Â
The Terrier DMR Challenge begins at 7:15 p.m. ET and the Alex Wilson Invitational begins at 11:15 a.m. ET. Next week is the Indoor BIG EAST Championships in Chicago.
