Huskies Win BIG EAST Match Play for Third-Straight Season

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The UConn men's golf team kick-off the spring season by winning the BIG EAST Match Play event for the third consecutive season at the Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. on Monday and Tuesday.
The Huskies finished 3-0 in their seven-match contests against Butler, Creighton and Seton Hall, posting an overall record of 14-4-3 in the tournament that featured eight BIG EAST schools.
UConn opened play with a 6-1-0 win over Butler in the quarterfinal round and then took down Creighton, 4-1-2 in the semifinals. On Tuesday, the Huskies clinched the title for the third-straight year with a 4-2-1 win over Seton Hall.
Senior Jimmy Paradise (Tampa, Fla.), who made his season debut after battling an injury during the fall, led the UConn contingent with a 3-0-0 mark. Freshman Alex Heard (Boca Raton, Fla.) matched Paradise with an unblemished 3-0-0 record. Senior Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) was unbeaten with a 2-0-1 record.
Junior Eric Boulger (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore Connor Goode (Glastonbury, Conn.) both finished 2-1-0 at the event. Junior Ray Dennehy (Princeton, Mass.) and freshman Bradley Sawka (Ellington, Conn.) each finished 1-1-1.
Heard led all Huskies firing 15 total birdies, two off the lead for the tournament. Dennehy had 11 birdies and Dallahan finished with 10 over the two days. Boulger eagled twice in his matches while Heard, Paradise and Dallahan all collected one eagle apiece.
The Huskies return to tournament play at the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate in Humacao, Puerto Rico on February 11-13. UConn will compete in five tournaments in the lead up to the 2024 BIG EAST Championship on April 27-29.
