STORRS, CT - UConn linebacker Bryun Parham (Long Beach, CA) was named this week's Walter Camp National FBS Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for games ending October 18.
Parham had a game-high 14 tackles (9 solo), also matching his career-high, while adding two quarterback sacks to lead UConn past their New England rival, Boston College, 38-23.  Parham led a Husky defensive unit that recorded seven sacks on the day. It was UConn's first win over a power four conference opponent on the road since 2012.
It is the second time a UConn player has earned Walter Camp National Player of Week honors since 2004. Parham joins former Husky linebacker Sio Moore (October 31, 2010) as a player of Week honoree.
On the season, Parham leads the team with 8.5 sacks and ranks 4th in total sacks (8.5) and sacks per game (1.21). He is the Huskies leading tackler with 61 tackles on the year, ranking 24th in tackles (61) and 28th in tackles per game (7.9). He ranks 11th in tackles for loss, averaging 1.50 per game. He's also forced a fumble and recovered three this season.
About the Award: This is the 22nd year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season.  It is the nation's longest running Player of Week award.
