Joey Muldowney Named to Team USA Spengler Cup

STORRS, Conn. - The United States Collegiate Select hockey team has announced the "First Five" members of its inaugural squad and Aiden Fink (Penn State), Mac Gadowsky (Penn State), Jake Livanavage (North Dakota), Joey Muldowney (Connecticut), and Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) have been selected. The five are all returning AHCA/CCM All-Americans and represent four of the six NCAA men's ice hockey conferences.
Muldowney, a junior forward from Lake View, N.Y., led UConn to a historic season in 2024-25, earning a Second Team AHCA/CCM All-America selection after scoring 29 goals, which ranked second amongst Division I skaters. Finishing the season with 47 points, he led the Huskies and set a program single-season record. He became the program record-holder for most hat tricks (3) and goals scored in a single season in the Hockey East era, earning Hockey East Second Team All-Star honors, as well as New England Hockey Writers Association Most Improved Player.
All returning First and Second Team AHCA/CCM All-Americans received an automatic invitation to the roster. Additional players will be announced in the coming weeks.
The United States Collegiate Selects will face Team Canada to open play Spengler Cup play on December 26. Each team will play a minimum of three contests and maximum of five during the six-day event.
The tournament is being broadcast to over 20 countries, either through a partner or via livestream. Official word on how the games can be seen in the United States will be announced at a later date.
The U.S. Collegiate Select team will be made up of 25 student-athletes from across NCAA men's ice hockey, with each conference being represented. The competition runs from December 26-31, with the six participating teams. Along with the Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gotteron, Sparta Praha and IFK Helsinki will be taking part in the 2025 edition.
