Ball and Karaban On Wooden Award Preseason Top 50

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Alex Karaban and junior Solo Ball have been named to the 2026 John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Tuesday (Nov. 18). The list was compiled by a panel of national college basketball expert to identify the frontrunners for the Wooden Award All-America Team and Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player.
Karaban ranks second on the Huskies this season with 18.3 points per game and has added 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He is shooting 61.9 percent thus far from the field and a hyper-efficient 63.2 percent from 3-point range. The UConn captain ranks among the program's all-time leaders in free throw percentage and 3-point field goals and has ascended to 23rd on the all-time scoring list with 1,426 career points. Karaban is a four-year starter who has compiled a 96-22 record (.814) and two national titles in his decorated UConn career.
Ball is third on Connecticut this season with 15.8 points and has added 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 'stocks' per game. He is coming off a breakout sophomore season when he averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 41.4 percent from 3-point range, hitting the fourth-most triples in UConn history with 99.
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday night for a top-five showdown with No. 4 Arizona at Gampel Pavilion.
