STORRS, Conn. – Ten University of Connecticut athletics teams posted perfect Graduation Success Rates (GSR), and a total of 15 squads performed at 90 percent or higher, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, November 19. UConn saw an increase of the total teams with scores above 90 percent increase from 13 to 15 for this year's cohort.
"We are incredibly proud of the achievements by our student-athletes in the classroom," commented Director of Athletics David Benedict. "These numbers reflect the hard work of our student-athletes, the dedication of our coaching staffs, and the outstanding support from our academic services team. At UConn, we believe that success is measured both on the field of competition and in the classroom, and these results show that our student-athletes are excelling in both areas."
Teams that earned a GSR score of 100 percent included men's golf, women's basketball, women's rowing, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, women's swimming and diving, and women's tennis.
The GSR data shows the percentage of student-athletes earning a degree within six years of entering college. The NCAA developed the GSR to account for student-athletes not tracked by the federal graduation rate, which includes transfers into UConn and student-athletes who transferred from UConn in good academic standing. This year's GSR numbers are based on entering classes from 2015 to 2018.
UConn had an overall GSR score of 91 percent, keeping the Huskies at over 90 percent for the seventh-straight year.
