Fudd, Quiñonez Sweep BIG EAST Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – UConn women's basketball graduate student Azzi Fudd was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week while Blanca Quiñonez was tabbed the conference's Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In a 2-0 weekend at the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase, Fudd averaged 27.5 points per game on a blistering .581/.688/1.000 shooting split while adding 6.5 rebounds per game.
In a 72-69 win over No. 6 Michigan, Fudd scored a season-high 31 points, shooting 7-for-12 from three-point range and grabbing five rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Fudd scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and shot 3-for-3 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the free throw line to hold off the Wolverines' comeback attempt.
In a 93-41 win over Utah, Fudd had 24 points on an efficient 9-for-11 shooting, going 4-4 from three. She notched a career-high eight rebounds vs. the Utes.
Against Utah, Quiñonez scored a personal-best 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting with five rebounds.
This is Fudd's third career BIG EAST Player of the Week honor and Quiñonez's second consecutive and career Freshman of the Week honor.
This is the second straight week UConn has swept the conference's weekly honors. Sophomore Sarah Strong was named Player of the Week on Nov. 17.
The top-ranked Huskies (6-0) have a break before beginning BIG EAST play at Xavier (3-2) on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2:30 p.m. on FS1.
