STORRS, CT – UConn wide receiver Skyler Bell (Bronx, NY) has been named one of three finalist for the 2025 Biletnikoff Award as announced on Tuesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc. The winner will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN on December 12.
Bell is the first Husky in program history to become a finalist for one of college football's top awards. He is joined by other finalists Makai Lemon of USC and Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State for final consideration for this season's award.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot or inside receiver, wing back, or running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
Bell has put together a season for the record books in 2025, closing the regular season last Saturday at Florida Atlantic. He has hauled in 101 passes for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns, setting new school records for catches and touchdowns this season. He is 76 yards away from the school mark for yards in a season. He had seven games this season with 100-yards or more, tying the FBS school record (Noel Thomas-2016).
He currently ranks first in the nation in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and 100-yard games. He is second in receiving yards per game (106.5) and receptions per game (8.42). His 13 touchdowns are 16th nationally in total touchdowns.
In his two years at UConn, Bell has played in 25 games with 151 catches, 2,138 yards and 18 touchdowns. He ranks ninth all-time at UConn in career receptions and yards and his 85.5 yards per game over his career is currently tops on the list. Between his time at UConn and Wisconsin at the start of his college career, Bell has seen action in 51 games with 220 catches, 2,893 yards and 24 touchdowns.
The Biletnikoff Award's semifinalists, three finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. Foundation trustees do not vote and have never voted. For a list of voters, please see BiletnikoffAward.com/voters.
The Biletnikoff Award candidate eligibility and voting criteria, transparently explicit and detailed, are available for review at BiletnikoffAward.com/criteria.
Recently, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation opened the 2025 FanVote. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semi-finalists, finalists (three receivers), and the winner. In the closest contest in years, the FanVote tally provided the one-vote margin of victory for 2013 winner Brandin Cooks of Oregon State.
