Huskies Fall to Maryland in Sweet 16

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – No. 13 UConn men's soccer fell to No. 4 Maryland in the Round of 16 on Saturday afternoon at Ludwig Field. UConn finishes the 2025 season with a 12-5-4 overall record.
The first half began with both teams vying for control, but it was Maryland who took the lead with the game's opening goal in the 27th minute off a rebound in front of goal, giving the Terps a 1-0 lead.
Maryland extended their lead in the 38th minute with a shot from outside the box, putting the Huskies down, 2-0.
The first half ended with Maryland taking a two-goal advantage into the break. Shots favored the Terps in the first half, 11-1.
UConn came out the halftime break strong, recording three shots, two being on goal in the first ten minutes of the half.
UConn's comeback hopes were altered in the 64th minute as Austin Brummett was shown a red card, putting the Huskies down to ten men for the remainder of the match.
Maryland sealed their victory with a goal in the 88th minute, making it 3-0.
