STORRS, Conn. – UConn men's soccer lost to Bryant, 1-0 on Tuesday at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. The Huskies move to 5-5-2 overall this season.
Bryant recorded the first shot on goal in the 13th minute that was saved by UConn goalkeeper Kyle Durham. The Huskies then put together a longer spell of possession midway through the half, highlighted by UConn's lone shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes from Owen Bland. Bryant forced Durham into his second save just before halftime, sending the teams into the break scoreless. UConn held a 7-3 advantage in shots in the first half.
The Huskies created the first sustained pressure of the second half, outshooting Bryant 3-0 over the opening 25 minutes. Aidan Sheppela forced a save from Bryant's goalkeeper before Johan Hamel hit the right woodwork in the 65th minute keeping the match scoreless.
Despite UConn controlling possession, Bryant broke through with the game's lone goal in the 73rd minute, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
UConn tried to answer down the stretch, but Bryant's defense held firm, snapping the Huskies two-game winning streak.
Durham made four saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. Preston Alessio led UConn with three shots. Sheppela added two shots, including one on goal.
