Huskies Finish West Point Roadtrip 1-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The UConn women's tennis team finished the weekend road trip to West Point New York 1-1. The Huskies fell to Army in game one of the road trip before bouncing back and beating St. Bonaventure 4-0.
The Huskies opened the first game of the road trip with a matchup of the home team, Army Black Knights. UConn and Army battled, with Army eventually coming away with the 4-3 victory. UConn started off strong with the duo of Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou winning no.1 doubles 6-1, and Isabel Petri Bere and Victoria Matos winning no.2 doubles 6-0. Olivia Wright and Isabel Petri Bere carried the doubles momentum into their singles matchups as Wright won noo.1 singles 6-2,6-1 and Petri Bere won no.3 singles 7-5 and 6-4. Army responded to the Huskies doubles and single wins and clinched the match by winning four singles matches.
UConn bounced back from a tough loss Saturday with a convincing 4-0 win over St. Bonaventure. Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou won no. 1 doubles convincingly 6-2, while Isabella Asenov and Chloe Lomans won no.3 doubles 6-0. In singles, the Huskies received wins from Olivia Wright, Victoria Matos, and Isabella Asenov.
"This was a good and very competitive weekend of tennis for our team," said head coach Glenn Marshall. "We lost a heartbreaker to Army 4-3 on Saturday afternoon but rebounded with a solid win over St. Bonaventure. In both matches we played some outstanding doubles, earning points in both matches. We were led this weekend by Olivia and Isabel, who won both their singles and double matches. Overall, I was very pleased with our level of play this early in spring season."
