UConn to Celebrate 2015, ’16 Championship Teams
1/2/2026 10:34:00 AM | Women's Basketball
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's basketball team will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its 2015 and 2016 NCAA Championships on Thursday, Jan. 15, when the Huskies face Villanova in Gampel Pavilion.
The teams will be inducted into the Huskies of Honor in a pregame ceremony, joining the 1995, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 teams.
The Huskies posted a 38-1 record in 2014-15, winning their last 37 contests, and took home their record 10th national championship thanks in large part to the outstanding play of the All-America trio of Moriah Jefferson, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Breanna Stewart.
The 2015-16 team posted its record sixth perfect season en route to winning its fourth-straight national championship. The All-America trio of Jefferson, Stewart and Morgan Tuck completed their careers in style after presiding over the most successful four-year stretch in team history, which included an incredible four-year record of 151-5.
Following the 2015-16 campaign, Stewart, Jefferson and Tuck became the first teammates in history to be selected with the first three picks in the WNBA Draft.
Head coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey have been on the coaching staff for all 12 of UConn's national championships.
UConn's game vs. Villanova will tip off at 7 p.m. on FS1. Limited tickets remain for the game here.
