Hense Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships

STORRS, Conn.- Sophomore pentathlete Maresa Hense has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, held next weekend (March 13th-14th).
Hense qualified for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships last season, earning second-team all-America honors after finishing 15th in the heptathlon with 5,608 points. Hense is UConn's women's track first and field athlete to qualify for the indoor championships since Susan Aneno and Divine Oladipo both did in 2019.
Hense has performed exceptionally in her sophomore indoor season for the Huskies. The sophomore broke the program record in the women's pentathlon with 4,201 points at the Penn Elite meet. took the bronze medal in the long jump at the BIG EAST championships at 5.88m. Hense finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.57. The performance ranks eighth in program history. Hense finished fourth in the long jump at the BIG EAST championships with a personal-best jump of 1.70m.
The pentathlon will begin at 11:15 AM in the 60m hurdles on Friday, March 13th, and can be streamed on ESPN+ .
