Huskies Deliver Strong Weekend at Knecht Cup

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The UConn rowing team competed in a full weekend of racing at the sunniest Knecht Cup in recent memory.
Racing opened Saturday under variable conditions, with a cross tailwind creating challenging and inconsistent water throughout the day. Despite this, the Huskies found success across multiple boats. The Second Varsity Four placed 13th out of 24, while the Varsity Four finished 10th out of 30. In the eights, the Second Varsity Eight secured an 8th-place finish out of 32 crews, and the Varsity Eight took 10th out of 34 in a competitive field.
A highlight of the weekend came from the Third Varsity Eight, which posted the fastest time in the heats to qualify for the grand final. The crew showed impressive speed and control, but was unfortunately unable to race in the final due to equipment damage sustained during warmups.
Conditions shifted on Sunday, as crews faced a steady headwind that tested strength and consistency. UConn continued to show progress, closing margins on teams they had faced earlier this season and demonstrating clear gains in speed.
"This weekend gave us a lot of confidence as we closed major margins with teams we raced earlier in the season." Said head coach Jennifer Sanford. "It showed how much speed we've gained, and we're excited to carry that momentum into practice this week. Overall, I'm really happy with how we performed and looking forward to next weekend's racing."
Overall, the Huskies delivered a competitive weekend performance, showing depth and resilience across the roster while building momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
