Rowing Wraps up Week With Strong Scrimmage Performance Against Wesleyan
3/19/2026 4:36:00 PM | Women's Rowing
DELAND, Fla. – The UConn rowing team closed out its week of training with a competitive scrimmage against Wesleyan, adjusting race plans due to conditions. Instead of the originally scheduled 2,000-meter races, crews competed in 1,000-meter and 500-meter pieces.
The Huskies raced in the First Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Third Varsity Eight events in what served as a strong, high-energy training opportunity rather than a traditional scored regatta.
"It was a dual of schools from Connecticut, and all boats had very positive competitive racing," said head coach Jen Sanford. "I'm really excited about our progress across the board over the week, and looking forward to bringing the gains home to Connecticut."
UConn wrapped up the week with solid performances across all boats, using the scrimmage format to continue building speed and cohesion as the season approaches.
