Stephen Leonetti begins his first season as Director of Player Development and Baseball Operations.
Leonetti joins the UConn staff after one year as the recruiting coordinator and catcher’s coach at San Diego Mesa College. A junior college in the California Community College Athletic Association. Following the junior college season, Leonetti worked as a head coach for the Springfield Sliders Prospect League.
A Woodbury, Conn. native, Leonetti worked with the Mystic Schooners as an assistant coach for two summers in 2016 and 2017 including a championship season in 2016. During his tenure with the Schooners, he worked as a catcher’s and corner infield coach while also serving duties of the assistant GM.
Leonetti also had coaching stints at Santa Barbara City College (2017), Central Methodist University (2016)Â and Alexandria Aces Collegiate Summer Baseball Club (2015).
Leonetti currently resides in Old Lyme, Conn. and is a graduate of Roger Williams University (’10) and earned his master’s degree at Milano The New School in New York City.
