2022 BIG EAST All-Freshman Team
While at UConn: Despite a freshman season that was thrown off-track by injuries at the beginning and the end, showed flashes of the athletic prowess and shooting ability that made him a consensus Top 50 recruit coming out of high school … Appeared in 27 games, with four starts, and was impressive enough to be named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team… Expected to be a major contributor and carry a lot of the scoring load in the 2022-23 season.
As a Freshman in 2021-22: Appeared in 27 games, starting four, and averaged 5.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game… Ankle injury forced him to miss the season’s first two games and a concussion put him out of action for most of the game at Creighton on March 2 as well as the last four games of the season, just as he seemed to be hitting his stride… Had seven double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 16 against nationally-ranked Auburn… Had 15 points, including four 3-pointers, vs. Georgetown, 15 vs. Grambling State and 14 vs. Butler… Named to BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Before College: Consensus top 50 recruit, who came to UConn following two years at powerhouse program DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) under Coach Mike Jones... Played AAU for Team Durant under Coach Angel Hernandez... As a senior at DeMatha, averaged 19.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.9 blocks, while shooting .636 overall and .464 from three-point range to lead DeMatha to an 11-0 record and was named 2020-21 Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year... Two-time Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention pick... Played his first two high school years at Gaithersburg High, averaging 20.2 ppg as a sophomore.
