Cole Peterson returns for his fourth season as a member of head coach Jim Mora’s staff in 2025. After spending his first three seasons as an analyst, Peterson has been elevated to assistant coach and will work with the Husky tight ends this season.
Peterson spent the 2024 season as the Senior Offensive Analyst for the Huskies, working as the lead assistant to UConn Offensive Coordinator Gordon Sammis and working with the quarterbacks. He oversaw all aspects of opponent scouting, self-scout, and assisted in weekly game planning and also supervised all the offensive grad assistants and analysts.
During his first season in Storrs in 2022, Peterson worked with the UConn defense as an analyst and with the defensive backs. He oversaw opponent scouting for also worked with the special teams units. Peterson moved to the offensive side of the ball in 2023, working with the UConn tight ends in an analyst role. He was in charge of all aspects of opponent scouting, self scout and weekly game planning.
Prior to joining the UConn program, Peterson spent the 2021 season as the defensive quality control coach and working with the defensive backs at Arkansas State. Prior to that, he began his collegiate coaching career at Ottawa University Arizona (NAIA) for two seasons as the team’s defensive backs coach.
Peterson began his coaching career in 2014 at Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He also coached at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale (2016-18) and at North Canyon High School (2019).
A graduate of Arizona State University in 2009, Peterson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree with an emphasis in sports law and business from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in 2015.
