Dennis Dottin-Carter enters his fifth year with the Huskies as the defensive line coach in 2021.
Prior to joining UConn, Dottin-Carter worked at the University of Delaware for five seasons.
During the 2017 season, Dottin-Carter was the position coach for Foley Fatukasi, who was a sixth-round selection of the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft. Â
While at Delaware, he was was named the Blue Hens' defensive line coach in 2013 and was promoted to the position of co-defensive coordinator in 2014.Â
Dottin-Carter was selected as Interim Head Coach on Oct. 16, 2016 after head coach Dave Brock was relieved of his duties. He led the Blue Hens for the final five weeks of the season and posted a record of 2-3, posting victories at home over Towson and on the road at Albany. Â
In 2015, Delaware's defense ranked No. 3 in the CAA in rushing defense (123.5/17th in NCAA), No. 3 in third-down conversion defense (.346/31st), No. 3 in scoring defense (20.5/22nd), and No. 5 in total defense (329.2/24th). Five Delaware defensive players earned All-CAA honors.
During the 2014 season, Delaware ranked No. 4 in the CAA in pass defense (197.2) and sixth in sacks (28). Under his tutelage, redshirt freshman Blaine Woodson was named the CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Dottin-Carter also played a big role in the development of 2013 All-American defensive tackle Zach Kerr, who closed out his third season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2016.Â
Dottin-Carter, a native of Cambridge, Mass., earned his degree in kinesiology and physical education from the University of Maine following an outstanding playing career that saw him lead the Black Bears to Atlantic 10 (now CAA) titles in 2001 and 2002. He was a first team All-Atlantic 10 selection as a defensive end in 2002 when he also was named All-New England.
Dottin-Carter began his coaching career with former head coach Jack Cosgrove at Maine in 2008 as tights ends coach and also led the fullbacks, running backs, defensive line, and special teams during his five-year tenure.
He most recently served as Maine’s defensive line and special teams coach. During his tenure, he coached five all-conference players, including All-American fullback Jared Turcotte in 2008. Maine led the CAA?in scoring defense (19.5 points per game) and was fourth in sacks (22) in 2012.
