UConn assistant coach Kashif Moore begins his third season back in Storrs in 2025. Head football coach Jim Mora announced the return of the former Husky for the 2023 season as the Huskies wide receivers coach. Moore returned to his alma mater after serving as the wide receiver coach at the University at Albany in 2022.
In 2024, a pair of UConn wideouts pulled down 50-plus passes under Moore’s guidance. TJ Sheffield caught 54 passes for 505 yards while Skyler Bell grabbed 54 balls for 860 yards and 5 TDs to lead the team. Sheffield went on to sign a rookie contract with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans after the season.
Moore’s first season with the Huskies saw him guide a receiving corps that needed to incorporate a pair of transfers into the offense. Under his guidance, wideout Cam Ross came back from two injury shortened seasons to post 44 catches for 552 yards and two scores. Transfer Brett Buckman, in his first season in Storrs as well, had a career year after four seasons at Delaware. Buckman was second on the team with 46 catches in 12 games for 488 yards and two touchdowns.
After his playing career in Storrs, Moore started his coaching journey at Conard (Conn.) High School under his former UConn receivers coach, Matt Cersosimo, from 2019 to 2020. He then spent a year at Wesleyan University, where he helped the Cardinals navigate through a 2020 season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There, he assisted in the development of the players on and off the field.
Following his time at Wesleyan, Moore was hired as the running backs coach at Cornell University for the 2021 season and most recently, Moore spent the 2022 season at UAlbany as the team's wide receivers coach.
A four-year letter winner at UConn from 2008-11, Moore was elected team captain as a senior and graduated ranked in the top 10 in program history in receptions (126) while registering 1,699 career yards and 13 touchdowns. He competed in three postseason games, including catching four passes for 62 yards against Oklahoma in the 2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl - the program's first-ever BCS Bowl game. He was invited to the 2011 NFL Combine and later signed contracts with Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Kansas City. Â
A native of Burlington, N.J., Moore played for Burlington Township HS where he earned all-conference, all-South Jersey and all-state in football and track. He graduated from UConn in 2011 with a degree in economics.
