Kathy Les is in her seventh season as an assistant coach for the UConn rowing program in 2020-21. She returned to UConn in July of 2017 after competing as a student-athlete (2005-09) and serving as a volunteer assistant coach (2009-11) with the Huskies in prior years.
In the 2016-17 season, Les served as an assistant coach for UCF, helping the Knights win the American Athletic Conference championship in her first season under head coach Becky Cramer.
Les also worked as an assistant coach at Colgate from 2011-16, where she also worked on the event management and facilities staff. She managed a number of day-to-day operations for the Raiders including compliance, equipment and practice planning.
While with the Raiders, she was responsible for the novice and junior varsity rowers, including the Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 8.
Les began her coaching career at UConn, where she was the volunteer assistant coach from 2009-11. Prior to coaching, Les was a four-year member of the Huskies' rowing team and a team captain as a senior. She earned the Drive Award three years in a row from 2007-09.
A native of South Windsor, Conn., Les earned her bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology and her master's degree in exercise science from UConn in 2009 and 2011, respectively. She competes as an amateur powerlifter and owns four first-place finishes.
