Alex Alvarez is in his first season as the primary athletic trainer for the UConn women’s swim and diving and women’s rowing programs.
Alvarez oversees the day-to-day care of all the student-athletes associated with these teams, while working closely with the rest of the sports medicine staff. He has been a certified athletic trainer since 2019.
Prior to UConn, Alvarez worked as an athletic trainer at the UConn Avery Point campus (2022-23) and worked primarily with the women’s basketball, men’s basketball and baseball teams. He graduated with a master's degree in exercise science from UConn in 2022. He earned his undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State University in 2019.
Alvarez and his girlfriend, Michelle, live in Bristol with their son, Elijah, and dog, Ella.
