AUBURN, Ala. - Several members of the University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming team made considerable marks in the opening day of the 2000 U.S. Open Swimming Championships on Thursday (Nov. 30) in Auburn, Ala.
In her second year at the national meet, sophomore Kate Larson (Sayville, N.Y.) turned in an NCAA consideration time of 1 minute, 11.46 seconds in the 100-meter breaststroke to place ninth in the evening finals. The swim eclipsed the national time cut of 1:11.65. Larson is UConn's first-ever Olympic Trials participant, after qualifying in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes last season.
