ROCHESTER, NY (Jan. 10, 2000) -- Tina Bessette led Rochester Institute of Technology past the University of Connecticut womens ice hockey team 11-0 on Wednesday evening in Rochester, NY. With the loss, UConn drops to 2-3 overall, while RIT improves to 6-2 on the season.
Rochester tallied five goals in the first and third periods and only one in the second stanza. Bessette recorded three goals, all of which were short-handed tallies. Jen Gorczynski and Kelly Iagulli scored two goals apiece.
UConns Diana Cohen (South Salem, NY) stopped 34 RIT shots on net, while Elaine Vondemberse and Diane Bornkamp combined for 10 saves in net. Rochester outshot UConn, 45-10.
UConn will take to the ice on January 17 at 7:00 p.m. against Rensselaer Poly Institute at the UConn Ice Arena in Storrs.
