UConn's Jerry Martin Nominated For National Award

Martin is in his 15th year as a member of the UConn athletic department. He served as strength coach from 1985-1987 before becoming the strength coach at Yale University. He returned to Connecticut in 1990. Martin is a 1978 graduate of Syracuse University where he was a four- year letterwinner in the sport of football and served as an assistant coach for the Orangemen for two seasons. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the NSCA and is also a certified level one Olympic coach from the United States Weightlifting Federation.
The winner of the NSCA College Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year award will be announced on Friday, July 13, during the NSCA National Conference, held July 11-14 in Spokane, Washington. The National Strength and Conditioning Association, as the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning, supports and disseminates research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness.
