NORTHFORD, CT - Tara Michalowski led Quinnipiac University past the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon in exhibition play at the Northford Ice Arena in Northford, CT. With the win, the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey program earned its first win in school history.
Hollie Stephen's (East Haven, CT) opened the scoring at the 19:54 mark of the first period. Nicole Perigard (Hamden, CT) gave the Huskies the 2-0 lead just four minutes into the second stanza. Michalowski brought Quinnipiac within one two minutes later. Lisa Hartmayer (Darien, CT) tallied Connecticut's last goal at the 8:55 mark. Quinnipiac scored the next three goals for the win. Kerri Stanford scored a power play goal at 16:30 to close out the period.
Michalowski scored both third period tallies for the come-from-behind victory.
Diana Cohen (South Salem, NY) recorded 24 saves in net, while Ashley Hatch and Kim Olsen combined for 20 saves.
