Furman Reaches Finals of Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, CT (October 1, 2001) -- Despite taking several matches to three sets, or losing by close scores, the University of Connecticut men’s tennis team struggled this weekend at the Yale Invitational. The Huskies won six singles matches and one doubles match.
Junior Mike Furman, however, excelled, winning two matches en route to the finals of the "A" singles bracket, but fell in the championship to Ryan Murphy of Yale, 6-2, 6-4. Ironically, in the seventh-place game for brackets "C" and "D" two UConn players were slated against each other in each of those two matches.
