Huskies Fall to Wisconsin 10-1 in Season Opener

MADISON, WI (October 20) – The University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey team was downed 10-1 by the University of Wisconsin at the Kohl Center in Madison, WI on Saturday afternoon. The game marks the Huskies season opener dropping to 0-1-0 on the season, while the Badgers improve to 3-0.
Kendra Antony led the Badgers with one goal and three assists, while Kerry Weiland had a goal and two assists. Kathryn Greaves, Kelly Kegley, Meghan Hunter, Jackie Friesen and Jocelyn Cookson all notched a goal and an assist a piece.
UConn’s Megan McLeod (Livonia, MI) recorded her first tally as a Husky.
Connecticut freshman Shannon Murphy (Mapleville, RI) started in net allowing five goals on seven saves, and Samantha Dexter (Gloucester, MA) played 40-minutes in net also allowing five goals stopping 18 shots. Wisconsin’s Jackie MacMillan and Jennifer Neary split time in net for a combined 13 saves.
UConn takes on the Badgers on Sunday afternoon at 3:05 pm EST.
