Huskies Earn Weekly Honors

STORRS, CT (November 8) – University of Connecticut men’s soccer team member senior Bryheem Hancock (Middletown, DE) was named the ECAC Co-Goaltender of the Week for men’s soccer for the week of October 29-November 4, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Hancock was named the ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second straight week, as well as earning his second consecutive Big East Goalkeeper of the Week honors after recording two conference shutouts. He helped the Huskies defeat Providence 1-0 and recorded two saves in a 1-0 overtime victory over Rutgers to give UConn at least a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season Title.
Senior Chris Gbandi (Houston, TX) was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week for October 29-November 4 by the magazine Wednesday afternoon.
Gbandi led the Huskies to a pair of 1-0 wins over Providence and Rutgers, scoring the game-winner against the Friars. This is the second time Gbandi has been named to the Team of the Week this season.
Connecticut will host Virginia Tech in a quarterfinal game of the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, November 11 at 12 noon at Morrone Stadium.
