GREENVILLE, NC-- The University of connecticut men's golf team finished in 15th place after one day of competition in the Ironwood Intercollegiate in Greenville, NC. The field consists of 19 teams competing at the Bradford Creek Golf Course which has a yardage of 7,049 and a par of 72.
Kevin O'Connor (East Lyme, CT) paced the Huskies carding a 78 on the afternoon to tie for 38th place. Sean Vigue was the only other UCOnn golfer under 80, posting a 79 after day one tying for 45th place. Rounding out the squad was Geoffrey Reilert (Simsbury, CT) with an 80 (T55th), Nathan Thomsen (Rocky Hill, CT) shooting an 82 (T76th) and John Humphreys (Niantic, CT) finishing with an 87 (98th).
Alex Larrazabal (Coastal Carolina) and Ryan Stinnett (Virginia Tech) lead the individual field carding a one-under 71 on the afternoon. Furman University leads the team competition with a combined one- day score of 294.
The Huskies return to action for two more rounds at the Ironwood Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
