Huskies Fall Just Short of Taking ECAC Champs

STORRS, CT (September 22, 2001) -- The University of Connecticut men’s tennis team fell just short of taking the ECAC Champs meet, held at Vassar this weekend. George Washington took the meet with 28 1/2 points, and UConn came in a close third with 26 points, behind New York University, who had 28 points. The Huskies did take one championship, though, as the doubles team of Adam Sadowski and Brian Ravesloot won the doubles championship bracket, taking four sets this weekend, including the finals from Chhabria/Salem from NYU, 7-6 (2), 6-2.
Of UConn’s five singles players, Max Zubatsky was the only Husky to advance to the finals. He fell in the #2 Singles Championship to Leontis from NYU, 2-6, 3-6. Three of the other four singles players advanced to semifinal rounds of their championships before eventually falling.
