Huskies Continue Winning Ways in Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, CT -- The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team progressed three of its singles players into the quarterfinal rounds of the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday. Two doubles teams advanced to the final rounds as well.
Freshman Whitney Simcik (Exeter, PA), who has dropped only one singles match so far this fall season, took two more matches today to put herself into the quarterfinals of the "A" singles bracket. Freshmen Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY) and Natalie Tirapelli (St. Petersburg, FL), both playing in the "C" singles bracket, advanced to their quarterfinals with two wins apiece.
In doubles, the teams of Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, FL) and Tirapelli and Barbara Schumsky (West Hartford, CT) and LoRusso, playing in the "B" and "C" doubles brackets, respectively, will play in the championship matches tomorrow.
