HUSKY SINGLES AND DOUBLES ADVANCE AT ITA REGIONAL

NEW HAVEN, CT – UConn had three players advanced out of the opening round of 65 in the main singles draw of the 2026 ITA Women's New England Regional Championship on Friday at Yale University Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
In the main singles draw, junior Chloe Lomans fought her way to a three-set tie-break win over Yale's Shyla Aggarwal to advance. After dropping the first set 6-4, Lomas blanked Aggarwal in the second, 6-0, then won a hard fought third set 7-6 (12-10). Lomas will face Cornell's Michelle Ryndin on Saturday in the round of 32.
Freshman Karolina Lincer was a straight-set winner over Stonehill's Lilah Shallcross, 6-0 and 6-3. Lincer moves on to face Michela Moore in Saturday's round of 32.
Senior Ela Platenikova played her way into the main draw thanks to a pair of wins in the qualifying draw. She opened with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win over Apara Khandare of Binghamton and then posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Martina Pavissich of UMass to advance to Friday's play.
Once in the main draw, Platenikova kept the momentum going and posted an opening roung win over Jessica McLean of Binghamton, 6-2 and 6-2. She will move to Saturday's action and face Ziye Liu of Yale.
In the main doubles draw, Platenikova teamed with Lomans for an opening round win, beating Marist's Viktoria Lorentzon and Lola Ungerman, 8-4. They will face the team of Madison Smith and Anna Cherico from Army on Saturday.
Also advancing was the senior-freshman tandem of Victoria Matos and Abigail Elham, who beat Brown's Ali Maguy and Anne Young, 8-2. They move on to face Sam Grosjean and Alexandria Orlins of Dartmouth on Saturday.
Saturday's tennis will pick-up at 10 am at Yale.
