Connecticut Competes at ODU East Coast Championships

NORFOLK, VA (Oct. 21, 2002) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team competed Fri.-Sun., Oct. 18-20, at the talented Old Dominion East Coast Championships in Norfolk, VA.
The Huskies were led by freshman Jessica Shea (Beverly, MA) who was the only Husky to reach the quarterfinals on the championship side of the singles bracket, with two wins in flight D singles. Senior April Dixon (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) played well as she reached the consolation finals in flight C singles bracket. The sophomore trio of Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY), Barbara Schumsky (West Hartford, CT) and Whitney Simcik (Exeter, PA) each reached the quarterfinals of their consolation bracket as well.
The Huskies return to action on Fri-Sun., Oct. 25-27, at the Regional Championships at the University of Pennsylvania.
