UConn Wins Fourth Straight Dual

STORRS, CT (Oct. 9, 2002) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team defeated Holy Cross, 5-1 Wednesday, at the UConn Tennis Courts. The win moves the Huskies fall dual record to 4-0.
The Huskies started strong winning all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. In singles play UConn won four of the six matches to secure the win for Connecticut.
The Huskies were led by the team of sophomore Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY) and freshman Jessica Shea (Beverly, MA) who teamed together to win the No. 3 doubles match. LoRusso and Shea then won their singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6 respectively. Senior Colleen Connors (Ormond Beach, FL) and sophomore Barbara Schumsky (West Hartford, CT) also played well winning both their singles and doubles matches. Connors won at No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles with April Dixon (Palm Beach Gardens, FL), while Schumsky won at No. 3 singles and No.1 doubles with Trinell Russel (Voorheesville, NY).
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 2:30 pm, when they travel to Quinnipiac.
