Connecticut Wins BIG EAST Road Match

BLACKSBURG, VA (Nov. 1) - The University of Connecticut women’s volleyball team won its third straight BIG EAST match Friday, November 1, defeating Virginia Tech, 3-0 (30-26, 30-25, 30-21). The win moves UConn to 11-12 overall and 6-2 in the BIG EAST, while Virginia Tech falls to 16-9 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
UConn as a team hit .265 in the match, which included a .341 hitting percentage in game three. The Huskies also had 12 total team blocks, including seven block assists from senior Christine Lambert (Lancaster, CA).
The Huskies were led by junior Julie Erbez (Stockton, CA) who recorded an assist-dig double-double of 41 assists and 18 digs. Senior Melissa Wooley (Ridgecrest, CA) played well with 15 kills and seven digs, while sophomore Jamie Hadenfeldt (Benicia, CA) added 13 kills and seven digs.
Virginia Tech was led by Ana Lang with a kill-dig double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs.
Connecticut returns to action on Sun., Nov.3, at 2:00 pm, when they travel to Miami.
