Foley, Ranta Named to Verizon Academic All-America Team

STORRS, CT (Nov. 12) - Kate Foley (Tolland, CT) and Salla Ranta (Helsiniki, Finland) of the University of Connecticut women’s soccer team were honored by CoSIDA and named to the Verizon Academic All-America Team.
Foley, a senior defender, was placed on the District I First Team in the University Division. Foley maintains a 3.979 GPA, majoring in Pharmacy.
Ranta, a senior midfielder, made the District I Second Team in the University Division. Also a Molecular/Cell Biology major, she has a GPA of 3.381.
Both athletes have started in all of UConn’s 21 contests this season, contributing to an impressive 18-2-1 record and the Huskies’ first-ever BIG EAST Championship.
