COLUMBUS, OH (June 5, 2002) - The University of Connecticut's Sean Vigue (Lebanon, CT) was named to the PING Northeast All-Region Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The top 12-15 collegiate players in each region received recognition for outstanding play during the 2001-02 season and will be considered for PING All-America status following the NCAA Championships.
Vigue, a four-year letterwinner and co-captain this year, led the Huskies in every tournament in both the fall and spring seasons. During those 12 tournaments Vigue notched three top-three finishes, including a pair of runner-up performances at both the MacDonald Cup and the URI Newport Invitational. He fired a career-low round of 69 at the Adams Cup of Newport, one of his team-best seven rounds under par for the season. Vigue finished the year with a 73.97 scoring average and ranked atop District I in adjusted average.
Most recently, Vigue was one of four UConn athletes (Kevin Coghlan, Kevin O’Connor and Mike Murphy) to earn honors from the New England Division I Golf Association. Vigue was named to the All-New England First Team for the first time in his career.
