UConn Performs Well at 2002 Eastern Collegiate Championships

WEST POINT, NY (Sept. 15, 2002) - The University of Connecticut women’s tennis team opened the season this weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Tennis Championships in West Point, NY. The tournament is a 25-team single elimination tournament, with one through four singles play, along with one and two doubles play.
The Huskies overall performed well, placing one singles player in the finals and three others in the semifinals. The lone singles player in the finals was #3 singles player Jen LoRusso (Shoreham, NY) who lost in straight sets to Andrea Weckstein of Rutgers. In doubles play UConn saw one team advance to the quarterfinals and the other team to the semifinals.
The Huskies return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 3 pm against Hartford at the UConn Tennis Courts.
