Huskies Place 16th at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (September 28) – The University of Connecticut’s men’s golf team finished 16th at The McLaughlin, hosted by St. John’s University at Bethpage State Park’s Red Course. UConn shot a 313 in the final round on Saturday, +33 at the par-70 course and wrapped up play with a 52-over 618 for the tournament. Rain on Friday shortened the tournament’s expected 54 holes of action to just 36. The host Red Storm finished with a tally of 566 (+6) to win the event, edging Princeton by two strokes.
The Huskies were led by team captain Nate Thomsen who finished the weekend tied for 44th with a 150 (+10). He was followed closely by 49th place Justin Ciombor at 151 (+11) and then 68th place Adam Kolloff at 154 (+14), 84th place Mike Murphy at 159 (+19) and 88th place Daniel Keefe with a 160 (+20).
UConn returns to action on Oct. 8 and 9 when they play in the Adams Cup in Pt. Judith, Rhode Island, hosted by URI.
