Husky Men and Women to Host Weekend Series

The University of Connecticut men’s and women’s ice hockey teams are set to take to the ice this weekend, each hosting a two-game series at the UConn Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and in-state rival Fairfield University will make the trip to Storrs, both games to begin at 7:30 pm. Out of conference opponent St. Lawrence University comes to Storrs from Canton, NY for the first-ever match-up between the squads. Both game times are set for 2:00 pm.
The men’s team is lead by senior Kurt Kamienski, having scored six goals and assisted on 12 for 18 points. He has scored at least one point in the last five of six games he has played, sitting out the Ferris State game with an injury. Jason Carey has been the main goalie since the Sacred Heart game on November 16, and in total this season he has played in 13 games for 736:57 in net. He has allowed 45 goals against for a 3.66 goals against average (4-8-1 record).
On the women’s side, Sara Mahoney leads the pack with nine goals and two assists for 11 points, including a team-leading four power play goals. Shannon Murphy has tended net for 17 games, playing 934:18. She has allowed 41 goals and holds a goals against average of 2.63 and a record of 4-8-3.
